In an interview this weekend on CBS News’ Sunday Morning, Penn says : "I guess I've been so away from it all-- and our tent camp in Haiti that I haven't had an awful lot of time to pay attention to them," he says. "You know, do I hope that those people die screaming of rectal cancer? Yeah."

Sean Penn, getting into some kind of scuffle at last night's Academy Awards ? Shocking, yes, we know—but it could be true. According to E! Online, the notoriously hot-headed actor was banned from the post-Oscars Governor's Ball on Sunday night, after he got into a confrontation with Oscar-winning Hurt Locker producer Greg Shapiro backstage at the ceremony. Not that Penn ever really needs an excuse to mix it up with somebody, but did we mention that Shapiro is currently dating Penn's ex-wife, Robin Wright ? Yeah, that might have had something to do with it. According to a source, shortly after Penn went at it with Shapiro, "Academy officials...said he was banned from the Ball."

Selon Reuters, Sean Penn aurait récemment joué de ses précieux contacts avec Hugo Chavez pour faire libérer Josh Fattell et Shane Bauer, deux randonneurs américains accusés d’espionnage par l'Iran et incarcérés depuis 2009 à Téhéran. Chavez, plus connu pour être un allié de Mahmoud Ahmadinejad qu'un proche de Barack Obama, aurait accepté d'interférer auprès du régime iranien après avoir été alerté par un « cercle d'intellectuels américains ». Et pour la source interrogée par l'agence de presse, « l'intellectuel américain n'est autre que Sean Penn, très investi dans le dossier depuis l'arrestation de ses compatriotes : « Il s'est rendu à Caracas il y a quelques mois déjà, pour demander l'aide de Chavez, et il a depuis suivi le cours des choses. » Après d'âpres négociations, les deux otages ont pu enfin regagner le territoire américain, contre une caution d'environ 500 000 dollars pour chacun d'entre eux et grâce au soutien de l'Onu, de l'Irak, du Sultanat d'Oman... et d'Hugo Chavez.
