RÉSUMÉ

USA 1933 : le producteur de cinéma Carl Denham a entendu parler d'une île mystérieuse, Skull Island sur laquelle vivrait un singe géant. Il embauche Ann Darrow, une jeune chômeuse affamée mais photogénique, comme vedette du film. Ensemble, ils traversent l'Océan indien à bord du navire du capitaine Englehorn et de son lieutenant Driscoll. Ils découvrent que la légende est bien réelle : King Kong, « la huitième merveille du monde » existe. Mais c'est un monstre gigantesque vénéré par un peuple primitif qui capture Ann pour lui offrir en sacrifice
